“Jessica and I were at a family event yesterday when we heard the news of the heinous assassination attempt on President Trump. Our immediate thoughts were shock, anger, worry, and immediate empathy for President Trump and his family. We are very grateful that he is well.
“Our thoughts and prayers will continue to be for him and his family to heal from this cowardly attack. We have now learned that someone else was senselessly killed and others injured. Our thoughts and prayers are with them and their innocent families who were just attending a political rally.
“There are no words to give comfort in a situation that should have never happened in our country. The perpetuation of division in our country has gone too far and it must end. Let this horrific event be a catalyst to unite us as Americans.”
