Dr. Garcia is deeply troubled by the state of our healthcare system. It’s heartbreaking to see how difficult it is for people to access the care they need.
When a patient needs to see their doctor, they should be able to get in right away. But here in Washington state it’s shockingly hard to even make a simple appointment with a primary care provider.
Washington ranks in the bottom half of states for active primary care providers relative to our population. And if you need to be admitted to the hospital, it can be very difficult to find an available bed: Washington regularly ranks dead last in the country for medical bed access.
It’s unacceptable that Washington, as one of the wealthiest states, is performing so poorly when it comes to providing basic healthcare services for its citizens. Our families deserve so much better. We need immediate change to fix these systemic problems and ensure everyone can get the quality and timely care they need. Our health and wellbeing is at stake.
As a physician, a husband and a father, Dr Garcia cannot and will not accept a healthcare system that fails the patients and communities he serves and cares for. It’s time to step up and deliver the reforms necessary to rebuild a healthcare system we can be proud of — one that puts patients and families first.
